RB4231 Prescription Sunglasses

Ray-Ban sunglasses are reminiscent of American culture and history. With wearers from Presidents, to film stars, to musicians and super models, the list is endless. There is merely a generation that doesn’t remember the iconic Ray-Ban sunglasses. Founded in 1937, the first Ray-Ban sunglasses were designed for the U.S. Army Air corp. who were looking for a sunglass to protect eyes from damaging rays of the sun but also a sunglass that would create style for the commanding airman of the day. In 1937 Ray-Ban took out a patent on the Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses. With the first sunglass to include anti-glare lens, Ray-Ban created metal frames that were extremely lightweight and made from gold-plated metal with two green lenses that filtered out UV rays to go alongside this. The Ray-Ban name instantly took off and achieved great popularity throughout WWII following the appearance of General Douglas MacArthur in Ray-Ban sunglasses. Following this, Ray-Ban sunglasses went on to produce more and more iconic designs including the popular Ray-Ban Wayfarer. Throughout the 50s and 60s, Ray Ban Wayfarers were the sunglasses of choice for iconic celebrities from Bob Dylan to Marilyn Monroe and John Lennon. This was followed on to the 80s where Ray-Ban sunglasses could be seen on everyone from Madonna to Michael Jackson. Today, Ray-Ban maintain their iconic designs such as the Ray-Ban Wayfarer and Ray-Ban Aviator however are always creating new designs to suit the adventurous wearer.
